Briefly About the Orangeville Art Group

In the spring of 1955, nine women met in the basement of Westminster United Church and christened themselves the Orangeville Art Club. Bonded by a shared love of painting, these friends became the driving force behind a group which would span five decades. The Orangeville Art group (OAG) is a not for profit organization. Our mandate is to encourage and promote an appreciation of art; to provide members with opportunities to display their work; to co-operate with other organizations in presenting viewpoints of the art community; to encourage and arrange instruction in art; to provide for contact among members.

The highlight of our year is the Annual Fall Show and Sale, featuring works in watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastels and other mediums. This year our 42nd held at the front banquet hall along with the GDACC HOME Show which is in the rear display halls at the Orangeville Agricultural Centre.

The OAG is involved in the artistic community, as a partner in the Hills of Headwaters Arts Festival and has co-sponsored events hosted by The Dufferin County Museum and Archives.

As a primary function, the OAG offers a diverse range of frequent (almost monthly workshops open to all and with companionship of other artists.

Members have the opportunity to display works in 3 permanent in-town locations including the main lobby of the Headwaters Health Care Centre. This display is changed every 3 months to provide visual enjoyment to all visitors. The artists donate 20% from all sales to the Headwaters Health Care Foundation.

We also display our work at the Orangeville Library, Mill Street and the Temptations Café located at 65 Broadway.
