President's Message
I hope everyone is doing well. On those days that it is not raining, begin to enjoy the warmth of a summer that is bound to come our way.
Spring is a very busy time for artists with workshops, upcoming shows, assessing new opportunities and planning for the future. The OAG is no exception. I would encourage our members to support our artists by attending shows, to enjoy our summer party and to look forward to a fun Annual Fall Show.
Starting this year of renovation, our constitution now includes pottery, ceramics and wood. This new foundation has already benefited members as well as the community. In order to keep on a good footing, our on-line survey has canvassed and will continue to canvas your needs. To meet your expressed needs, our three areas of focus will be Workshops, the Annual Fall Show & Sale and the opportunity of fellowship with members. I know that you will enjoy the colorful rooms of this our new newsletter. To cap it off with a new roof, we hope to revise the website so that is more interactive and to create a revised logo that is more befitting this art group.
For those that know and those that need reminding, the fun, activities and benefits that we enjoy in our group are dependent on the wonderful nature of our member volunteers and their good work. Most importantly we need a volunteer Chairperson for the Annual Fall Show & Sale and a volunteer chairperson for Advertising & Promotion. Perhaps your friend and fellow artist is just waiting for your encouragement in order to step forward &
Volunteer.
I appreciate those that have helped out in the past, those that have vision and for those that have already stepped forward to volunteer for the Fall Show in a supporting role. Thank you for making this group work in the best interest of our members.

Dear Joe,
Many exciting things are happening here at OAG. This month with the new Executive Committee we are looking for a way to serve our members better. With that in mind we asked you what you wanted - and you told us!! Thank you to those that took the time to complete our survey. We are paying attention to the results and over the next few months will be focusing on introducing improvements to echo some of the things you wanted. Stay Tuned! You will see our new logo, and the programs we are working on here. Let's keep the conversation going!

Upcoming Workshop
PLEIN AIR PAINTING with GEORGE PERDUE
Come and spend a day painting plein air i.e. in the open air, enjoy the challenge of painting landscapes, water or structures directly from the subject and outdoors. Plein air painting is very different from painting in a studio or using photographs as references. It is a wonderful way to learn to see and paint that compliments other forms of life painting practices such as still life, portraiture and figure work.
Look for special interesting feature of the workshop. More to come! To learn more about this event, please visit http://www.orangevilleartgroup.ca/events.html |
