News From Our Members

The Flaming Spirit Artists - Shirley Bartlett, Lillian Kletke, Jean Mull, Carole Sisto, Luella Thomson - return this summer to the Dufferin County Museum with their new show '5 BY 5'.

'The Flames' began  painting and showing together in the Dufferin area in 1999. Last year they set themselves a challenge! How many ways are there to paint a picture?

Their desire was for a collaborative project that would showcase their individual approaches to art. The group chose one locally taken photograph from each member as inspiration. As each responded differently, their show includes realistic and abstract interpretations and a range of media including cold wax, original prints, oil, acrylic and mixed media. Five artworks by each artist make an exciting show of these twenty-five original works.

'The Flames' invite you to join them at the Dufferin County Museum, corner of Airport Road and Hwy. 89, for  their Opening Reception Sunday July 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. Show continues until August 28.
